# Backups

Backups capture a full snapshot of your project's content at a point in time.

## What a backup includes

A backup captures all content managed through the CMS:

-   Articles (including custom fields, tags, media placements, and translation links)
-   Pages (including hierarchy and media placements)
-   Categories and article-category relationships
-   Custom collections and their items
-   Micro copy entries
-   Media assets

Backups do not include users, API keys or project settings

## Creating a backup

In the app, go to **Backups** and click **Create Backup**.

## Restoring a backup

Restoring a backup replaces all current content with the content from the backup. Every article, page, category, collection, collection item, micro copy entry, and media asset is fully replaced with the backed-up data. Any content added or changed after the backup was created is permanently lost.

To restore, click the actions menu on an *Available* backup and select **Restore**.
